Tar Sands in Canada and how it is connected to our Food System

I recently posted a video of a Tedx talk about the Tar sands in Canada, one might say “What does this have to do with Food, or farming! Let me explain
You see Conventional farming is heavily based on Petroleum ( oil) for most of the chemicals they use ( synthetic fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides), and all the heavy machinery they use to harvest the crops, and because majority of people eat conventional food this will translate to using a large amount of oil from the tar sands, and using more oil to transport this oil overseas, which is where a lot of this oil will go. Most of the important info is in the video. The effects this project will have on climate in time will most likely feed in to irregular weather patterns, possibly creating drought, and floods which will directly and indirectly affect farms, and possible crop loss, and  so many more issues, the science will back it up. Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you watched the video hopefully it will spark some interest…
